Maendeleo Institute is a not-for-profit development, capacity building and advocacy organisation focused on eradicating barriers to sustainable development and peace, prosperity, and equity in Africa.

At Maendeleo, change is not just a possibility but a collective promise we make and pursue with deliberate intention and focus. We are not just an organisation — we are a movement on a mission to redefine the narrative of Africa for Africa because it is also really good for the rest of the world.
We believe that to achieve equitable sustainable development, peace and prosperity in Africa, we must genuinely and diligently work with the communities and leverage the synergistic power of partnerships. This often involves working with communities devastated by, or most at risk of devastation from, violent conflicts and disasters. It also entails working to improve policies and the quality of interventions, building capacities of critical actors and institutions, mobilising essential resources, and delivering transformative, tailored initiatives, especially in communities and ecosystems most at risk or in most need.
